Towards the development of brain research, an engine of future growth, the KBRI has acquired research personnel and equipment of outstanding quality. It is now working on establishing a multilateral brain research infrastructure, through establishment of the Brain Research Policy Center and the Korea Brain Bank, among other efforts.

To consolidate the capabilities of domestic brain research and contribute to the development of revolutionary brain convergence source technology, the Cutting-edge Brain Research Equipment Center was founded to head establishment and use of the latest brain research equipment. Under management by the National Research Facilities & Equipment Center (NFEC) and KBRI, the Cutting-edge Brain Research Equipment Center houses approximately 60 pieces of imaging, analysis and behavioral measurement equipment.
With the aim of becoming a hub for brain research in South Korea, we make available world-class brain research equipment to both local researchers and domestic/foreign institutions and companies―stepping up the pace in providing internal and external services and encouraging the shared use of high-quality equipment.

Through the provision of equipment and technical support for various brain research-related projects and interdisciplinary research, the KBRI is working to attain its vision of making South Korea a world-class brain powerhouse. Through the shared use of our cutting-edge brain research equipment infrastructure, we are producing outstanding research outcomes in a diverse range of brain research areas that can hopefully contribute to the development of the country’s brain sciences.
